During my third year of my bachelor’s degree, I had the opportunity to undertake two work experience placements in the media sector.

The first took place at TV Lux in Libramont, a local media outlet based in the province of Luxembourg. Thanks to Frédéric Feller, I got a behind-the-scenes look at a local newsroom: I took part in a press conference, wrote an article, conducted an interview, observed news reports and helped prepare the television news. I also learnt the basics of video editing there.

The second placement took place at BX1 in Brussels, working alongside journalist Meryem Lassidi. I accompanied her to press conferences, interviews and voice-over recordings, thereby discovering the pace of a larger and more diverse Brussels-based media outlet.

These two experiences, one in a small regional team and the other within a larger media organisation, gave me a practical understanding of how a newsroom operates and broadened my perspective on the media world. They have strengthened my desire to pursue a career in the fields of communications and advertising.
